Stop Sprinting, and Start Prepping for the Marathon.

I have been Influencering and Blogging for almost seven years, and to say the least, it has been a journey! Each year I learn more and more about how to communicate with my audience, along with how to create content that they actually enjoy. (and engage with) Nonetheless, I can confidently say that doing business in a digital era is truly a marathon, not a sprint!

Studies have shown that those who participate in long-distance running, have to be mentally tougher than those who participate in sprints or short-distance running. It’s the same for doing business. Each year each platform continues to bring different aspects to help our audience engage with our content. With that being said, sometimes it can become overwhelming if not harder when it appears that people and businesses are having overnight success, (the sprint) via social media. So how do you prepare to run the marathon for your business?

You know the saying “Fake it until you make it”, well social media is the perfect place to bring that saying to life! I can assure you that more people are faking it than actually making it, and that's okay! One of the best things I have been able to leverage in the times that I have “faked it”, is learning how to develop habits that help you stay in business longer. For instance, I have set days that consist of only working on my business. Sticking to a schedule helps you attack business little by little, there for helping you achieve your goals, both big and small.

If you have ever trained for anything you know how lonely it can get to help achieve your goals. It’s important to create a tribe of other like-minded individuals that can encourage you and help you through this marathon. It may sound cliche, but “Iron Sharpens Irons”, creating a tribe will help you stay in the race and more importantly create and do better business.

Nonetheless, if I can stay in this business for the last seven years, I know you can knock it out of the park. The thing about sprints is that you can only do so many before getting tired. Therefore, continue to create a schedule that allows you to stay and win in the race! Remember we need more business just like yours, continue to do the work, and because someone is waiting on the product, or service you have to offer!
